1. Hike to the Jesus Statue

Cristo de la Misericordia in San Juan Del Sur Nicuaragua
Hike to the Jesus Statue

A definite must is the hike up to the “Jesus” statue overlooking the bay of San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. You can walk along the beach or cross the footbridge over the river to get into the community called the “Talangera”, from there take the 2nd road back that is parallel to the beach, this will lead you up a road to the top of the hill, along the way you will see some mansions and cool vacation houses. Once you get to the top, there is a super steep hill up to the statue. At the time I went up, the locals had to pay 10 cordobas to get in, and foreigners have to pay 20 cords (less than a buck). Once up there, take as many photos as possible, the view is amazing and you can even see Costa Rica.
